What does the first edition, issue, or collection mean when we know more is to come? As we began putting our first collection together, we looked back at first issues of some of our favorite magazines, book series, and artists’ works. Where did things begin and how can we trace the arc of progress across weeks, years, and philosophical and design eras? In the first ever issue of BRUTUS, we find works from HIDEOKI, now known as a fine art nature photographer, approaching a more commercial style. As we put our own work out into the world, we know there is room to grow, experiment, and improve upon our first efforts.
