Doug Aitken's multimedia work 'Song 1' centered around bespoke recordings of the song "I Only Have Eyes For You," made famous by The Flamingos. Through examining the mystique of the song's lyrics, the recording process utilized by the musicians employed to create new versions of the song, and the visual cues provided by the song, Aitken created site specific works that transported viewers within the romantic utopia of the song's world.
